DIVINE TIMING
“To everything there is a season, and a TIME to every purpose under heaven. He hath made everything beautiful in HIS TIME” Ecclesiastes 3:1, 11a (Emphasis mine)![]() |
I want you to pay close attention to the words emphasized above – a SEASON a TIME, HIS TIME. Clearly God has a time and a season for every major event in the life of individuals and in His divine agenda for humanity as a whole. As far as the major destiny defining moments of your life are concerned, God has a definite time frame and more often than not, you are on schedule even when you or those around you think the world has passed you by.
Let us examine the following scriptures that all attests to the fact Abraham truly believed God for Isaac. Yes as a human, there were times of uncertainty and wavering. But God always got him back on track until the holy writ unambiguously confirmed that Abraham believed God!
“… before him who he believed, even God…”
“…who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations…”
“And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead…”
“He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief…”
“And being fully persuaded…” Romans 4:17, 18, 19, 20, 21. (KJV)
So Abraham believed God absolutely for the promised son Isaac but he did not receive that promised son when he wanted. The promise was not fulfilled at the time Abraham really wanted or expected it. However, after almost twenty five years of divine delay God tells Abraham this.
“…at THE APPOINTED TIME I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son”. Genesis 18:14 (KJV, Emphasis mine).
Then this happens
“For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at THE SET TIME of which God has spoken to him” Genesis 21:2 (KJV, Emphasis mine).
What then? We are confronted with the inescapable reality that the law of DIVINE TIMING is superior to the law of FAITH.
Abraham had great faith, in fact he was called the father of faith. Yet it did not happen when he wanted but he had to wait until the divinely appointed time.
Contrary to the ignorance peddled about by many, Abraham was NOT a victim of satanic affliction or ancestral bondage from his family tree/line. No sir/ma. Rather he was a victor in his delay. He was never a victim. The delay was NOT satan’s work, it was God’s work, it was divinely orchestrated. During the twenty-five long years of the delay, he was a great victor, a champion for God, the dread and alarm of satan and his kingdom!
More scriptures attests to this undisputable scriptural truth.
“…That bringeth forth his fruit in HIS SEASON…” Psalm 1:3 (Emphasis mine)
“For the vision is yet for an APPOINTED TIME…” Habakkuk 2 : 3 (Emphasis mine)
“And when the DAY of Pentecost was FULLY COME…” Acts 2:1 (Emphasis mine)
“But is under tutors and governors until THE TIME APPOINTED of the father” Galatians 4 : 2 (Emphasis mine)
“And let us not be weary in the well doing; for in DUE SEASON we shall reap, if we faint not” Galatians 6 : 9 (Emphasis mine)
“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in DUE TIME” I Peter 5 : 6 (Emphasis mine)
