DIVINE SET-UP
DIVINE SET-UP
“Moreover he called for a
famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread”.
He
sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant: whose feet
they hurt with fetters; he was laid in iron.
Until
the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried
him. The King sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go
free.
He made him lord of his
house, and ruler of all his substance”: Psalm 105:16 – 21 (KJV) Emphasis mine.
“Now therefore be not
grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve
life.
For these two years hath
the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there
shall neither be earing nor harvest.
And
God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth,
and to save your lives by a great deliverance.
So
now it was not you that sent me hither, but God…”
Genesis 45 : 5 – 8a (KJV)
Emphasis mine.
“Poor” Joseph. In Genesis
37 : 5 – 11 we see the great dreams of unusual greatness that God planted in
Joseph’s heart. Those dreams clearly indicated what you may call special
destiny for want of a better word. This guy was destined for greatness and he
knew it. In fact he was cocky, brash and a little arrogant about it. And when
his father made a coat of many colours for him thus signifying his intention to
confer family/business leadership on Joseph, he felt he had started the journey
to greatness. How wrong he was!
The
coat of many colours, family or business leadership in his father’s house, even
inheriting his father’s business empire was actually a journey downward for
Joseph, but he did not know it.
God
had to organize a divine set-up for Joseph to get him back on track his genuine
pathway to that envisioned greatness. Contrary to Joseph’s
thinking, his pathway to greatness was not
his father’s vast business empire. A divine set-up was hatched in the universal
courts of heaven. His brothers sold him into slavery and he was brought to
Egypt in iron chains and fetters! That can never look like a journey to
destiny, but it was! At Egypt a chain of terrible events unfolded until he was
thrown into prison. Every new terrible event seems like taking him thousands of
kilometers away from destiny and greatness, but in actual fact he was getting
closer to destiny and greatness.
The prison as it turns out
was not a place to bury his dreams and future but the place to resurrect them. Joseph had a divine appointment to keep in
prison. The prison was his last bus stop on his tortuous journey to
greatness. After God had finished His work and brought Joseph to his place of
destiny, his outlook changed. He now saw things with the divine eyes as against
the human eye. Hear him.
“For God did send me before
you to preserve life…”
“And God sent me before you
to preserve you a posterity in the earth…”
“So now it was not your
that sent me hither, but God…”
Genesis 45 : 5, 7, 8 (KJV)
May be you have been
looking at your setbacks with the human rather than the divine eye. Sometimes,
a setback is actually a divine set – up. As clever as satan is, he thought the
crucifixion and death of Jesus was a setback for God and His plan of
redemption, but it was a divine set-up. No wonder the scriptures say, “…had
they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” (I Corinthians
2:8b KJV).
As a messenger of hope, I
will not get tired of saying this; it is not every unpleasant happening in your
life that is the work of satan, your enemies, witches, ancestral spirits or
family curses. Sometimes, God is working out something unbelievable in its
magnitude for you.
“Who is among you that
feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in
darkness and hath no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD and stay upon
his God”.
Isaiah 50 : 10 (KJV)
You are doing everything
you know to do. In fact it can be said of you, …”having done all…” (Ephesians 6
: 13 KJV); yet you seem to be walking in darkness and have no light. Please
trust in the name of the LORD and stay upon your God. Like Joseph, the time of
your word will come. Yes the time when the word, promise, dream He gave you
will come to pass.
“Whose feet they hurt with
fetters: he was laid in iron:
Until
THE TIME that HIS WORD came…”
Psalms 105 : 18, 19 (KJV)
Emphasis mine.
Perhaps the circumstances
of your life right now look like fetter and iron like Joseph, but I want to
assure you that THE TIME of HIS WORD will soon come to pass in your
life.
